We are so far behind in documenting our journey I’m going to just give a quick update and go back later and fill in some of the details and add lots of photos later.
If you haven’t heard, Lori and I have decided that life is short and we need to start the adventures we have always dreamed to do. We’ve decided to take on a big one. We are taking our sailboat and heading south. Final destination is still undecided but we are taking the NY canal system (Oswego and Erie) to the Hudson river, then heading south along the Intracoastal Waterway (ICW) to Florida and then crossing to the Bahamas.
There was a lot to do and we had a lot of unexpected things to do at the last minute. We thought we were ready but covid and engine problems surfaced at the last minute making our preparations more hectic than expected. Add to that moving our kids to their next coop from Waterloo to Peterborough and Quebec added a lot of driving during the last two weeks. And we, of course, wanted to spend as much time as we could with our kids before we left. We are really going to miss them. Here we are in Quebec, getting Gavin moved into his new place.
Alright, that’s all the time I have for now. I will create a few more quick posts of our adventure soon!

Hey Shane. So stoked that you’re doing this – while at the same time sad because David and I sold Ge’Mara this year. I’ll be watching your adventures closely! Please be careful in the Atlantic with storm season.
I’m sure you’ve discovered him but in case you haven’t, John Kretschmer is an excellent resource and has written some excellent books. Check out https://www.facebook.com/p/John-Kretschmer-Sailing-100063504494421/
Cheers,

Hey Doug, thx for the comment.
Sorry to hear you sold Ge’Mara. But maybe it’s an opportunity to find a new boat?

You never know! For the time being I’ll have to live vicariously through you 🙂
